Moving Forward. Together.
There is so much to celebrate as we begin the 2026–2027 school year at Morgan County R-II! Our buildings are ready, our staff is ready, and most importantly, we can't wait to welcome our students back where they belong. We begin this year with momentum, optimism, and a renewed commitment to keeping students at the center of everything we do. We are also excited to welcome 21 new members to the MCR2 family and are incredibly grateful for the many local businesses, organizations, families, and community members who continue to support our schools, students, and staff.
In early September, surveys will be shared as we begin updating our district’s strategic plan, known as the Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP). This plan will help guide our priorities, initiatives, and decisions over the coming years. I encourage you to take a few minutes to share your thoughts.
Families will also notice a few changes as we begin the school year. Parents should have received information regarding updated traffic patterns, including the addition of our new exit-only driveway. They will be shared again here in this newsletter as a reminder. We appreciate everyone’s patience and attention as we adjust to these changes and work to make arrival and dismissal as safe and efficient as possible.
We will also have new entry procedures at all of our schools. Visitors will need to utilize the video phone at the entrance and provide the reason for their visit before being granted access to the secure vestibule. We recognize that this adds an additional step when visiting our schools, and we apologize for any inconvenience. However, the safety and security of our students and staff will always be our highest priority.
Our theme this year, “Moving Forward. Together.” Great schools are built through strong partnerships, and every student, staff member, family, Board member, business, organization, and community member has a role in our success. We have great people, a community that cares deeply about its schools and its kids, and so much to look forward to in the year ahead.
Here’s to new opportunities, new memories, and what we truly believe will be The Best School Year Ever!
Dr. Bryan Pettengill
Superintendent of Schools

Reminders
- Follow all directions given by faculty, staff, Student Resource Officers (SROs), and Versailles PD that may be on hand.
- Follow designated traffic patterns and yeild to oncoming traffic.
- Keep your attention on the roadway to ensure the safety of all students, parents, faculty, staff, or others that may be moving throughout or near the parking lot and sidewalks.
- As we all adjust to new traffic patterns, routines, and procedures, drop-off and pick-up may take a little extra time during the first few days of school. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as everyone gets familiar with the changes. We hope the new exit and updated traffic patterns will help make arrival and dismissal safer, smoother, and more efficient for everyone!

Morgan County R-II School District uses ParentSquare and the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to support our students and families—but the two tools serve different purposes.
ParentSquare = Parent Communication
Use ParentSquare to stay informed and connected with your school. Families can:
• Receive important school and district messages and alerts • Send and receive messages with teachers, staff, and groups • View school and classroom events and RSVPs • Access forms, permission slips, flyers, and resources • Communicate in your preferred language through automatic translation
Think ParentSquare when you need school communication.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal = Student Information
Use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to securely access information about your student. Families can:
• View attendance, grades, and assignments • Monitor academic progress • Update emergency contacts and demographic information • Access report cards and important documents • Complete annual registration and enrollment • Set assignment and grade notifications to help monitor student progress
Think Infinite Campus when you need student records and academic information.
Together, these two tools help us keep families informed, connected, and empowered to support their students throughout the school year.
