MORGAN COUNTY R-II SCHOOL DISTRICT PROVIDES UPDATE ON BUS INCIDENT
Versailles, Missouri — On April 14, 2026, at approximately 3:55 p.m., school bus #24 serving the Morgan County R-II School District was involved in a single-vehicle accident just south of Little Tigers Early Learning Center in Gravois Mills.
There were 31 students on board, including pre-kindergarten through high school students. Shortly after departing Little Tigers Early Learning Center, while navigating a curve, the bus’s right-side tires moved slightly off the roadway, and the bus came to rest in a ditch. A review of the incident determined that soft ground conditions were a contributing factor.
Based on review of the incident, the driver maintained control of the bus, helping to prevent a more serious outcome.
Emergency personnel and district administration responded quickly, and all students were evaluated on-site by paramedics as a precaution. The district is grateful to report that no serious injuries occurred, and all students were safely reunited with their families.
No other vehicles were involved, and no citations were issued.
The safety of our students is always our top priority. We are thankful for the professionalism of our driver, staff, and the quick response of local emergency personnel in ensuring the well-being of everyone involved.
Dr. Bryan Pettengill
Superintendent of Schools
Morgan County R-II School District
